The World's Not Enough! Rovio To Bring Animated Angry Birds Series
I guess Angry Birds think that the mobile platforms don’t give them a large enough empire to vent their wrath upon the pig army. Rovio’s sensational game has grown leaps and bounds so much that the mobile strategy is now just a smaller part of their expansion strategy.
The NABO or the New Angry Birds Order as I address the game as, has given us stuffed toys, a board game already and reports today hinted at the possibility of an Angry Birds TV series. The idea as reported has been in the can for quite some time, probably since August last year and it is a totally different avenue that Rovio will be stepping into. It is interesting to witness this strategy and how the game continues to step deeper into our every day lives.
So what exactly will we be seeing in the next few months? Here’s what I think (read fear)
- A high tech member in the family recovering eggs from the villainous pigs on Android or the iPhone
- A baby sleeping with an Angry Bird stuffed toy
- Young teens enjoying the slingshot experience on the Angry Bird board game
- A toddler loving the Angry Bird Cartoon series.
Isn’t that a bit too much of Angry Birds?

Hehe, you say you fear that but at the same time this is yet another Angry Birds post in AS. What I fear is that we will see a daily Angry Birds post on ArcticStartup that speculates on what comes next, just because these posts bring more readers than the startup posts.
In many ways that is understandable of course, as Rovio is currently the most successful startup in the Nordics, so Angry Birds to AS is what Quora/Groupon/Twitter is to TC. :)
Valid point, but then AS is also about highlighting the success stories alike, which you also mentioned here.
I guess its more of a followup , definitely not want to be Nostradamus here at predicting what is to come :).
Thanks for the feedback though. :)
Yeah, well it doesn't bother me. I just felt it was a little ironic to be asking if there's too much Angry Birds, when in fact it's quite clear that AS loves Angry Birds stories because they drive so much traffic. The entire startup ecosystem in Finland loves AB because their success helps everyone. It's a great thing we have such a successful startup in Finland, and hopefully there will be more success stories of the same scale. I guess there is no such thing as too much Angry Birds. :)
I like that last sentence "There is no such thing as too much Angry Birds" - agreed on this.
I am always looking forward to similar success stories as they are always giving you quality matter to talk about, and this is exactly where even the blog gets to be on top of the game as well.
Bet there are many startups out there in the region that I am not aware of and those that excel in what niche market they cater to. You have my email/skype please do feel free to point me in their direction, there is nothing better than learning more about such ideas.
Cheers:)
Good comments here.
Jani, regarding the traffic - we've actually seen that while the stories initially attracted larger crowds, they currently draw about average readership compared to our other articles. I find this interesting, as you rightly noted that AB/Rovio is to the Nordics what Quora and others are to TC/GigaOM and others on the other side of the pond.
