According to VentureBeat, Rovio has announced that their Angry Birds Rio game has now been downloaded an astonishing 10 million times in just 10 days. This surely makes Angry Birds Rio the fastest game to reach 10 million downloads on a mobile platform. Overall, the company has enjoyed over 100 million downloads for its games in the past 16 months.
The game has essentially raised awareness for the movie Rio, which Rovio has partnered with. The movie is set to hit theatres on April 15th and it is likely it will most likely further increase downloads of the game.
Another interesting aspect VentureBeat pointed out in their article is the amount of Google searches the game is getting compared to some other successful brands, such as Zynga's Farmville, Townville and even Mickey Mouse. Google Trends shows that since November last year Angry Birds has been more searched for than all the other brands in the comparison.
