Nordic And Baltic Teams At Mini Seedcamp NY

Mini Seedcamp NY will be held on June 14th at Google's New York offices. The 20 selected companies come from various parts of the globe: Brazil, Canada, Poland, Israel, Germany, UK, Austria, Romania... Three of those 20 start-ups are from the Nordic and Baltic region. Namely, Campalyst from Latvia, Planeto from Sweden (Malmö) and SurveyLegend also from Sweden (Lund). Together with the other teams they would compete for the access to Seedcamp's world-class network of mentors and advisors, for a direct route to seed and venture capital and, of course, for the  prestige of being recognized as the best start-up in the region.

Campalyst combines Facebook Insights and Google Analytics to measure the precise ROI of social media campaigns. Campalyst is originially a Garage48 project and it has already participated in a Mini Seedcamp event earlier this spring in Stockholm. The company is also part of the Startup Sauna program at Aalto Venture Garage, which recently took them to the Silicon Valley and resulted in a thorough interview with Robert Scoble.

Planeto is building the world's first social Knowledge Network. It uses games and quizes to discover and certify user's knowledge and connect them with other experts globally. As a result users are promised to discover who among their Facebook friends has a hidden talent for photography or can recommend a good vacation spot in Spain. Their Quiz Widget allows to create own quizes on external websites, which potentially is where the company's revenue might come from.

SurveyLegend is building a survey app that allows users to conduct picture, video, text or audio-based surveys and instantly share them on their websites, blogs or social media. Taking surveys is often a drag from the user's perspective but is vital in almost any line of work. Making the experience more enjoyable can reduce the non-response rates, thus increasing survey's efficiency. SurveyLegend could fulfill that task with their eye-pleasing interface and easy-to-use implementation.

Best of luck to all the contenders and may the best start-up win!

Excellent to see fellow Stockholm Seedcamper go on to New York, and also to see Survey Legend getting there, which I met during the Travelling Salesman Nordic tour. Very excited about both, and hope to hear some nice reports about how it went.

Yeah, congrats to all the Baltic and Nordic teams!

Would love to see (even) more Startup Sauna and Summer of Startups companies in Seedcamp events. There is no reason for any of the teams not to apply. Just writing the application is hugely helpful. Indeed, all the Aalto{ES,VG} programs should have a Seedcamp application as part of their "curriculum".

Seedcamp Ljubljana is up next and the applications are open. If you get selected, just hijack the Travelling Salesman landy and drive over to Slovenia.

P.S. If any of the teams want feedback on their applications, I guess Kristoffer and myself can do that. As past Seedcamp Week participants and as a Seedcamp portfolio company we should have some insight into what you should think about when applying.
