BrowserTexting Enables SMS Sending From Your Browser
BrowserTexting is a new startup from Denmark, which enables in a similarly named online service, users to send and receive SMS's from their browser. All you need at this moment is an Android phone to take advantage of the service. The company states that there are no limits on how many messages you can send and also, to how many people - which unfortunately might make it appealing for spammers. Nevertheless, it has interesting features such as the possibility to send group SMS's.
The service is currently available only for Android devices. According to the team, an iPhone version was not made, because Apple does not allow third party applications to access SMS sending on the iPhone.
To initiate using the service, you need to scan the QR code on the computer screen to sync the service with your phone. The service is able to use your number and contacts you have on your phone.
Despite the service still being in beta, there are quite a few features available already - listed on their features page. It'll be interesting to see how concepts like these using old technologies online in a new way will pick up. Naturally BrowserTexting isn't the first one, but there aren't too many of those around and it's bound to find its user base relatively soon.

Are the messages sent with the phone through the mobile operator or directly by the BrowserTexting service?
How do/will they make money? Also, will there be some API available for developers to send & receive SMS messages through their service?
@akaihola: yes, the messages are sent via the phone.
@Piotr: yes, we have the API in pipeline.
