Tellyo Brings Social Sharing Solution to Finland's MTV3

Tellyo announces today that it has penned a deal with Finnish commercial television station MTV3, where they will test their social sharing solution with a number of TV programs.

Kimmo Koivisto, co-founder of Tellyo, tells us that they're excited about not only bringing their solution to one of the largest broadcasters in their home market, but also for the opportunity to test out their solution with a wider variety of programs. Tellyo has already run a pilot with with the Spanish version of MasterChef, where we wrote that about of 80,000 clips were taken from TV broadcasts, despite a cooking show being perhaps not the most optimal type of show for sharing moments.

With the new partnership with MTV3, the service will be integrated with MTV Media's websites, and the BB Syke mobile service. The Share a TV Moment service will enable viewers to capture their own 30 second clips while the show is being broadcast on live TV, and then lets users share the clips on Facebook or Twitter. Doing so drives interest in MTV3's live shows while also bringing more viewers to MTV3's online video - where many eyeballs are moving these days. Tellyo also beefs up MTV3's second screen apps, giving users more excuses to open it up during programs.

The programs will include Celebrity Big Brother, Totuuden torvet, Enbuske & Linnanahde Crew and news and current affairs programs. Sports programs will not be able to be shared, which is too bad, as Tellyo would be an awesome solution for sharing exciting moments of games.

"Social media plays a big role in the creation of TV phenomena these days. With the pilot project we want to test how Tellyo’s innovative service can further strengthen the relationship between MTV’s TV programmes, internet services, viewers and social media. We also welcome the initiative of the Finnish start-up company in the field of TV and want to support it," says Mari Rasimus, Executive Producer at MTV Media.

The pilot project will begin on the 3rd of September.
