Comptel Acquires Advanced Analytics Startup Xtract For EUR 3.1 Million

Finland-based analytics provider Xtract has been acquired by software company Comptel for EUR 3.1 million. Xtract was founded in 2001 and specializes in advanced customer analytics solutions for companies operating in the mobile, retail and finance sectors.

Xtract has not been profitable in recent years but the startup’s sales did take a turn for the better in 2011 with EUR 2.4 million in revenue compared to 2010’s EUR 2.3 million. Comptel CEO Juhani Hintikka says that Xtract is an important addition to the company’s current offering and a key element in executing Comptel’s new growth strategy in the telecommunications sector.

“This acquisition completes Comptel’s ‘event-analysis-action’ vision, which will help telecom operators provide value to their customers and operations by driving real-time business decisions,” said Hintikka.

Xtract’s current customers include telecom operators AVEA (Turkey), DNA (Finland), TeliaSonera (Finland) and Megafon (Russia). The company is expected to be consolidated into Comptel’s financials in mid-February.
