The slow death of Dopplr (guardian.co.uk)

There seems to be quite a bit of news on Nokia today. This one's from the startup perspective though and how they're keeping the lid on Dopplr.

I talked about this to a few jorunalists last week and they were suprised of my comments. However, this article just confirms my point unfortunately.

Also kinda savvy was the DHH comment on Dopplr (and vanity purchases is my favourite new word),

"Acquisition condolences http://bit.ly/cizFQ0 - next time a vanity purchase is announced, maybe we shouldn’t be so quick with the champagne."

http://twitter.com/dhh/status/24420533137

And another post on this or why "talent acquisitions are oxymorons" http://37signals.com/svn/posts/2566-you-can-not-buy-ideas-or-talent

Wonder how many successful startup acquisitions there actually is. Usually seems that the products just go downhill from there or just get plain killed.
