Are you a skilled database developer that want to join our tech team to further develop the technical platform? The database is the foundation of our service to provide content to our alaTest websites and partners. You will work to improve the overall process of collecting, structuring, and presenting review data. We work with various Open Source solutions, e.g. Apache, MySQL and PHP and our servers run Linux.
You are comfortable with and interested in shared ownership of code, TDD, CI ,agile development, open source technologies, etc. You might already be a hard-core Python programmer, or you might be coming from a Java background and interested in leveraging your experience using new tools. As a person, you are motivated by developing creative solutions with innovative technology, you like to take responsibility and show initiative, and are comfortable in a dynamic and entrepreneurial environment. You take an pragmatic approach to problem solving, but always maintain a strong focus on quality.
Key Job Responsibilities
* Maintain and further refine our database and technical platform
* Problem solving and performance tuning in SQL and Python.
* Recommendation of new technologies.
Job Requirements
* An academic degree or equivalent experience of database development.
* 5+ years of database design.
* Know SQL, Python, Java.
* Experience of some of the following techniques is a plus: Lucene, Solr, data integration, BI, Data Mining, Dimensional Modeling, Reporting Tools, Hash indexing, ORM, XML, SQLAlchemy, Pylons, Natural Language Processing experience, statistics, correlation methods.
* Good team player and able to take own initiatives.
