Antti: exactly and that's what eventually wore me down about Finland and got me to refocus towards Estonia instead. People who dare try in Finland either win big abroad or end up at home poorer than when they started. Whichever way it goes, they earn the despise of the populace and the increased scrutiny of the authorities. The same applies for career-oriented go-getters and for entrepreneurs. That's simply not productive.

Odin - you nailed it.

I actually learned last night that it was entrepreneur's day in Finland yesterday. What gives? Nobody promoted it and thus it's forgotten, just as the entrepreneurs themselves (on a national level that is).

Great post, Chris. Recently I've come through a blog post about entrepreneurship in Canada (http://tinyurl.com/5whkkw), and they mentioned about how entrepreneurship works in places like Silicon Valley, New York and Israel: "...in the Valley, you can't help feeling that density. You might have an idea and decide to go for a cup of coffee. On your way to get that coffee you will run into six people who will help with your idea."

Finland still has a long way to create such environment though. But I believe that will come soon.

Great report, Kristoffer!

Anthony and Adil from Entrip, I hope it goes great for you guys, but if you go to "plan B," call or email me before heading back to India! Your idea/startup may be related to BuzzPal, in which case perhaps an opportunity to collaborate.

Regarding "if we should make this a habit in the future": My vote = an enthusiastic, yes. It's seems like fun, interesting, relevant content. Plus it's helpful for the startup community and everybody around it. Great job.

Cheers, Chris
