Multitouch Closes 2 Million Euro Investment
The Finnish manufacturer and designer of touch based large screens, Multitouch, has secured a 2 million euro investment from the Finnish Industry Investment and Veritas Pension Insurance. The investment will be used to speed up the company's sales and marketing efforts including their international operations. Previous investors, founders and seed fund Vera will continue as owners in the company as well.
The company was founded in 2007 and has received a good start ever since. Earlier this year we covered the company as it designed the Twitter wall for CES. According to the press release, Multitouch has currently clients in 40 countries.
Finnish Multitouch Designed CES Official Twitter Wall
The Finnish developer of multitouch television size screens built the official Twitter wall for CES, which took place in Las Vegas last week. Multitouch got some nice publicity with it as well. The company's products got noticed by The Discovery Channel as well as Engadget. "We have created the first large-scale display application for Twitter, which is ideal for a public multitouch, multi-user display system," said Petri Martikainen, the CEO of MultiTouch.
Multitouch Wins The MindTrek Launchpad
The winner of the MindTrek Launchpad 2009, a pitching competition for statups at MindTrek, has just been announced on stage. This year's winner is Multitouch, a Finnish table- and wall-sized multitouch display manufacturer.
The winner receives € 20,009 and of course a major publicity boost. Congratulations to Multitouch!
This year, just as last year, the short list included some promising companies and some complete misses. Also they were from a broad variety of industries, ranging from hardware manufacturer (Multitouch) to a Facebook game (Kamu World).
Compared to the quality of last year's startup pitches at Mindtrek Launchpad, this year saw a big improvement. The pitches were better structured and more coherent. A good pitch does not equal a successful company, but it's part of it.
Mindtrek Launchpad Finalists Chosen
