Ever since hearing about their fairly impressive €2.2 million seed round lead by Open Ocean Capital, we've been wondering what Helsinki-based Nosto would be up to. After a quiet summer they now announce that they've partnered with Commerce Guys to offer Nosto's e-commerce solutions to Drupal Commerce. These Commerce Guys are apparently the leading eCommerce company working with Drupal, and claim over 28,000 active sites worldwide.
In case you missed our past coverage, Nosto offers a SaaS solution that enables smaller and midsize online retailers to plug into the same types of e-commerce solutions that bigger companies like Amazon employ, such as real-time personalized recommendations that update based on a customer's individual behavior, and features like triggered emailing for abandoned cart recovery, which helps retain sales. To track these tools, Nosto also provides users with analytics to help keep track of relevant KPIs. In the end, Nosto promises increased conversion, average order value, and overall store revenues.
Helsinki-based Nosto Solutions announces it has raised €2.2 million in a seed round led by Open Ocean Capital, Sanoma ventures, and a number of angel investors. It's a big number for a company that has just popped up on our radar here in Helsinki. Nosto is still somewhat in stealth mode, and produces an e-commerce marketing solution that gives a platform-independent marketing features for e-sellers. Currently Nosto employs 12 people in the Nordics, UK, and Germany, and their first customers include Angry Birds, Intersport, and Huuto.
The founding idea behind the company is to bring Amazon-like features that drive more dollars through product marketing, or to retain lost sales. These features include personalized content and triggered emails that get sent if a item is left in a cart, but not purchased.
