Nordic And Baltic Teams At Mini Seedcamp NY
Mini Seedcamp NY will be held on June 14th at Google's New York offices. The 20 selected companies come from various parts of the globe: Brazil, Canada, Poland, Israel, Germany, UK, Austria, Romania... Three of those 20 start-ups are from the Nordic and Baltic region. Namely, Campalyst from Latvia, Planeto from Sweden (Malmö) and SurveyLegend also from Sweden (Lund). Together with the other teams they would compete for the access to Seedcamp's world-class network of mentors and advisors, for a direct route to seed and venture capital and, of course, for the prestige of being recognized as the best start-up in the region.
Planeto Launches "Massively Multiplayer Online Quiz" Social Game In Open Beta
Swedish social game startup Planeto has released its new game Planeto Quiz into open beta available for all players late last week. Planeto calls the game "the world's first massively multiplayer online quiz", MMOQ. The idea of the game is to combine elements from quiz competitions and online multiplayer games, e.g. World of Warcraft, including role-playing elements like character building and player interaction - but all packaged for global mass-market audience.
Planeto Closes 4,5M Swedish Kronor Round
Planeto, a Swedish startup still in closed beta, has announced closing a 4.5 million Swedish Kronor investment round. The investment was made jointly by Sydsvensk Entreprenörfond AB, current shareholders and angel investors. Sydsvensk Entreprenörfond (SEF) put in 2M Swedish Kronors and the shareholders and angel investors more than doubled that with 2.5m Swedish Kronors. 4,5 million Swedish Kronor is the equivelant of about 430,000 euros or 615,000 USD.

Planeto Quiz claims to be the world’s first Massively Multiplayer Online Quiz (MMOQ). The game is first to combine elements of online role-playing games such as World of Warcraft and Lord of the Rings Online with the accessibility and instant thrill of traditional quiz games.
